What is CLIMATE COMPASS?
The CLIMATE COMPASS methodology builds on the meanwhile 15 years of experience of Climate Alliance and its members, promoting the most promising strategies and robust measures for local climate change policies.
CLIMATE COMPASS supports local authorities having committed themselves to get active in local climate protection in identifying first tangible measures and to implement them successfully in the short term.
In addition, it provides the basis for a long-term and systematic engagement in climate change policies. The result of CLIMATE COMPASS is an action programme, which
- includes first, simple measures for immediate implementation,
- lists necessary basic resolutions with criteria and minimum
requirements to be applied in each climate relevant planning
process,
- charts targets and strategies for a long-term climate change policy.
One of the characteristic features of the CLIMATE COMPASS methodology is to build on the activities, achievements and experiences in the respective local authority by integrating the climate change policy into the upcoming developments of the city or municipality.
